Xbox Game Pass might get cheaper – but there’s a catch
Microsoft’s new gaming chief Asha Sharma recently called the service “too expensive for players” hinting at major changes ahead.
This has sparked rumours about pricing changes, new subscription tiers, and even possible removal of major titles like Call of Duty. Profitability is too low and this makes subscription tier change and game removals.
Asha Sharma believes the current Game Pass model is not working globally. According to internal discussion, the service needs a ‘better value equation’ meaning players should feel they’re getting fair value for the price. This directly points to upcoming pricing and structure changes.
Expected Changes:
- Cheaper subscription tiers may be introduced
- Some games may be limited to higher plans
- Region-based pricing (important for India)
- Bundles with other services
More users + expensive games = More losses
Call Of Duty (Rumors)
One of the biggest rumours suggests that call of duty may not remain a permanent part of Game Pass. This is because adding expensive AAA games on day one is costing Microsoft heavily. Xbox have limited AAA games but that AAA games they are giving in game pass makes this big rumor in solid place.
Why Changes Now ?
The current Game Pass model is struggling because high cost games and relatively low subscription pricing are difficult to balance. This forces Microsoft to rethink it’s strategy.
Earlier there model was lower the subscription more users they get but this backfire when it comes to revenue and now there pc subscription is double the price it was earlier and they lost users. Both the ideas backfire so this time they will eventually come with something that help Microsoft balance out.
Conclusion
Xbox is not improving Game Pass out of generosity- it’s fixing a business a problem. Players may get more pricing options, but the overall value of the base subscription could decrease.
